Abstract
The note presents the maturation, fecundit;, attainment of sexual maturity,sex-ratio and giowth of an introduced common carp, Cyprinus carpio (German
strain), under temperate conditions in Kashmir. It is observed that the size compositioti
in the general catches has declined significantly, particularly from the
last decade, in the Valley lakes and other wetland systems evidently owing to
overfishing.
