Abstract

Length-weight relationships (LWRs) are crucial for conservation efforts and ecosystem modeling, as they offer key insights into the growth, health, and overall condition of fish populations. This study investigates the growth pattern of 18 finfish species belonging to the families Balitoridae, Cyprinidae, Danionidae, Nemacheilidae, Psilorhynchidae, and Sisoridae, collected from the Bichom and Digien rivers, Arunachal Pradesh, between May 2022 and June 2024. A total of 1,142 specimens were studied, revealing parameter b (relative growth rate) that varied from 0.508 (Balitora brucei) to 4.303 (Barilius barila). This study is the first to report on LWRs for these finfish species from the Bichom and Digien rivers.
