The Internet of Things (IoT), a frontier technology is gaining importance in the field of fisheries and aquaculture. The current study presents a comprehensive scientometric analysis of the previous work done pertaining to IoT-based systems in the domains of fisheries and aquaculture using VOS viewer and MS Excel. Leveraging a dataset of 520 research articles retrieved from the Scopus database, this research aims to provide a synthesized overview of key trends and insights in this rapidly evolving field. The assessment revealed that the total number of citations accrued by the publications from 2007 to 2023 amounted to 3,919, with an average citation per paper (ACPP) of 7.54. France was the most extensively connected nation, collaborating with 16 countries and engaging in 20 instances of co-authorship. China was a leader in this field, accounting for 15.92% of the total publications, followed by India (14.49%). "Internet of Things" (mentioned 329 times) was the most prevalent keyword in the literature. The Asian countries, were at the forefront of highly cited literature, with eight out of the top ten cited works originating from the region. Papers with more than ten authors were rare until 2020, while there was a notable increase to 17 authors in 2021. Finally, the study observed a strengthening degree of collaboration and increasing Collaboration Index values in recent years, highlighting the growing collaborative nature of research in this field. In conclusion, this study emphasises the significance of global collaboration and the evolving nature of IoT based research in fisheries and aquaculture.
