Abstract

The study investigates the seasonal variations of A. catalaunalis and its predators in relation to weather parameters. It revealed that the larval population of leaf webber and capsule borer was first observed on sesame during the 3 rd week ofJuly (29th Standard Meteorological Week) and reached at peak level (3.32 larvae/plant) on the 4 th week of September (39 th SMW). The highest (14.20 capsules/plant) healthy capsules were observed during the 1 st week of October (40 th SMW). The maximum (4.96 capsules/plant) damaged capsules were observed during the 4 th week of September (39 th SMW). The highest population of coccinellids (1.88 coccinellids/plant) was recorded during the 2 nd week of September (37 th SMW) as well as peak spider population (1.04 spiders/plant) was observed during the 3 rd week of September (38 th SMW). The correlation studies with weather parameters revealed that larval population of leaf webber and capsule borer showed significantly negative correlation with morning relative humidity (-0.574*) and evening relative humidity (-0.667*). While, spider population showed significantly positive correlation with rainfall (0.581*).
