Abstract

A field experiment was conducted for two consecutive years, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, on a sandy loam soil at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseed Research, Hyderabad, to study the effect of nutrient management practices on soil fertility parameters under the finger millet-sesame cropping system. During different growth stages of finger millet, the highest available N, P and K was recorded in T8 treatment which adopted the practice of soil test based balanced application of NPK+ 25% extra N + 0.2 % B+ FYM @ 2 t/ha, wherein N was applied in 3 splits as basal and at 30 and 45-50 DAS. Treatment T8 was statistically at par with treatments T6, T7, T5 and T4 during both the years of study. Similarly, in the sesame crop, significantly higher available soil N, P, K, and S were recorded in treatment T8 and showed at par with the values of available N, P, K and S in the treatment T6 and T4 due to application of RDN in 3 splits. The lowest available N, P, K and S status was recorded in the absolute control.
