The advance in nano technologies with conventional fertilizers in agriculture, boosting the yield, decreases soil and water pollution and increase precision as well as sustainability through increase nutrient use efficiency, in such way, a field experiment was conducted during kharif 2022 at Oilseeds Research Station, Jalgaon, Maharashtra, to assess the effect of nano urea on growth, yield attributes, seed yield, and economics of sesame. The study was laid out in a randomized block design with nine treatments involving combinations of basal application of neem-coated prilled urea, foliar application of nano urea, and conventional 2% urea sprays. The results revealed that application of 100% RDN (50% basal + 25% at 20 DAS + 25% at 45 DAS) recorded the highest seed yield (526 kg/ha) and net returns (`37,944/ha) with B:C ratio of 2.51 which was remained at par with IFFCO-recommended treatment (50% RDN as a basal + 2 ml/l nano urea spray at 20 and 3 ml/l nano urea spray at 45 DAS) which produced 515 kg/ha of seed yield and net returns of `34,056/ha and B:C ratio of 2.23. Treatments which relying solely on foliar nitrogen sprays either nano urea or conventional urea without basal application of nitrogen fertilizer showed significantly lower yields. The findings suggest that an integrated nitrogen management approach combining basal application of conventional urea with foliar sprays of nano urea offers an efficient, economical, and sustainable strategy to boost sesame productivity without yield penalty over 100% N application through conventional methods under assured rainfall zone of Maharashtra.
