Abstract

The inheritance of resistance against powdery mildew disease in linseed was studied in F1, BC1, BC2 and F2 generations in three resistance varieties Polf 5, NDL 2004-05 and LCK 9406 and crossed with one susceptible genotype, PKDL-52. In the F1 generation of all the three crosses, LCK 9406 x PKDL 52, Polf-5 x PKDL 52 and NDL 2004-05 x PKDL 52, the plants were resistant to powdery mildew. This finding suggested the dominance of the resistance over susceptibility. In BC1 generation all the plants were resistant whereas BC2 plant progenies segregated in 1 resistant : 1 susceptible. In F2 generation the plant progenies segregated in ratio of 3 resistant : 1 susceptible plants. Therefore a single dominant gene has been identified for resistance to powdery mildew in LCK 9406, Polf and NDL 2004-05.
