Effect of chemical fungicides against sheath blight disease of rice in coastal plain zone of Odisha
Keywords:

Sheath blight of rice incited by Rhizoctonia solani Kühn is reported in severe form in coastal zone of Odisha and causes considerable yield losses. A variety of fungicides with new molecules are available in the market claiming varying degree of control. To assess the efficacy of different fungicide formulations at recommended doses against sheath blight disease, the study was conducted at RRTTS (CZ), OUAT, to test the efficacy of these new fungicides under coastal climatic conditions of Odisha. Highest reduction in disease incidence (77.1%) over control was achieved with application of combination fungicide containing Trifloxystrobin 25% + Tebuconazole 50% 75 WG. It was followed by Azoxystrobin (57.3%) and Difenconazole (55.42%). Application of combination fungicide reduced disease index to the tune of 9.5% besides effecting highest reduction in relative lesion height. The study concluded that trifloxystobin + tebuconazole combination fungicides may be used on a wider scale for managing rice sheath blight disease in coastal plain zone of Odisha.Downloads
