Abstract

In kharif season of 2015-16, 100 and 70 numbers of genotypes of mungbean and urdbean, respectively were received under National Genetic Stock Nursery (NGSN) experiment of All India Coordinated Research Project [AICRP] on MULLaRP mungbean, Urdbean, Lentil, Lathyrus and Pea] at Centre for Pulses Research (CPR), Berhampur under Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Following infector row technique, these germplasms were screened for yellow mosaic disease (YMD). Among the 100 germplasms of mungbean screened, 35 germplasms were found to be free from YMD. Similarly, in urdbean 15 genotypes were found to be free from the disease. Additionally, 45 and 29 germplasms in mungbean and urdbean, respectively were observed to be highly resistant to YMD. The germplasms free from YMD and highly resistant to it may either be used as donor parent in breeding programmae for the development of resistant varieties or may be released for general cultivation.
