Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, (*.doc or *.docx) document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

The following points may be addressed in your covering letter:

  1. What is new about the concept/idea?
  2. Central message/focus of the article
  3. Can the idea/concept be applied? How?

MANAGE looks for:

  • Papers on original research in the field of agricultural extension and allied sectors, analytical papers, and papers covering new developments, concepts and their application in effective extension work.
  • Originality of the idea
  • Clarity of objectives of the article
  • Sound Methodology
  • Data analysis and depth of discussion
  • Effective examples
  • Applicability
Preparation of Manuscript.

Manuscript may be within 5000 words including/ excluding tables, figures and    references.

Manuscripts may be prepared in the following order:

Title page; Abstract; Keywords; Main text; Acknowledgements; References. The title page would include the title of the article, name/s of the author/s, their   institutional affiliation/s, postal addresses, contact numbers and email addresses. One author should be identified as the corresponding author. The email address of the corresponding author will normally be displayed in the article. Each article should be accompanied with a declaration by all the authors that (1) they are authors of the article in the order in which listed; and (2) the article is original, has not been published and has not been submitted for publication elsewhere.

Abstract: The first page of the article should have an abstract of the article in 200-250 words preceding the main text. The abstract should be informative and concisely state the scope of the work, methodology and principal findings. Keywords:  4-6 keywords may be included

As far as possible, articles may be organised into the following sections:    (I) Introduction, Background (II) Objectives (III) Methodology (IV) Results and Discussion, (V) Policy Implications and Conclusion.

Review:  All papers submitted to Journal of Agricultural Extension Management are subject to a masked peer review. The criteria for acceptance of articles in the Journal are topicality, clear and logical analysis, sound methodology, fairly good English and contribution to knowledge. The Editor reserves the privilege of editing the manuscript, returning it to the author for revision or rejecting any manuscript as unsuitable in topic, style or form with or without requesting external review.

  • Every accepted article will be edited. If the author wishes to see the edited copy he/she should make this request at the time of sending the article
  • If more than 500 words/a table/a figure have been quoted from a published work,  in the article, a copy of permission obtained from the respective copyright holder may be enclosed. It is the author's responsibility to obtain permission in writing for the use of all previously published material, not that of the editor or publisher. Authors are responsible for payment of any permission fees.
  • Copyright of the article will be with MANAGE upon acceptance of the article.

 

Spellings:

British spellings may be used

Numbers:

Please use figures to express all numbers 10 and above. Words may be used to express numbers lower than 10, and numbers that begin a sentence/title.

Abbreviations:

 A term to be abbreviated must, on its first appearance, be written out completely and followed immediately by its abbreviation in parentheses. Thereafter, the abbreviation may be used without further explanation.  

Quotations:

Citation of less than 40 words may be incorporated in the text within double quotes. Use single quotes throughout. Quotations of 45 words or more should be indented from the text, giving the source of the quotation (author's last name, year and page number/s). 

 

Tables and Figures:

Tables and figures to be indicated by number separately (see Table 1), not by placement (see Table below). All figures and tables should be cited in the text. Citation of Sources: When paraphrasing or referring to an idea contained in another work, the author must cite the source in the text. The surname of the author and the year of publication may be inserted at the appropriate point as part of the narrative or in parentheses. 

 References

  • The reference list at the end of the article should provide complete information necessary to identify and retrieve each source: Author/s, year of publication, title and publishing data. All references cited in the text should be listed alphabetically by surname of the first author and presented in full at the end of the article; conversely each entry in the reference list must be cited in the text.
  • Please include references within the last ten years period.
  • When a reference has more than one author, please list all the authors’ names. For an institutional report, full name of the institute may be written as the author. For a government report, the author is the name of the country/state and the name of the Ministry/Department, separated by a colon.
  • When ordering more than one reference by the same author, the earlier publication may be listed before the later publication. References by the same author with the same publication year are arranged alphabetically by the title, and suffix a, b, c and so on are added to the year.
  • A webpage may be cited as: Author’s last name, initials, year, title, followed by date of retrieval:”Retrieved (date) from (website address).

  • Author-date method: Follow the author-date method of in-text citation, e.g., (Jones, 1998).

The first author will receive on publication, one copy of the journal.
