Abstract

The past few years have seen an alarming increase in the frequency and intensity of dust storms in Northwest China, which is known to be a major dust source in the world. This outstanding environmental issue is an active research field in China. with the participation of a large number of research groups and scientists from various disciplines. This paper attempts to give an overview of the wind erosion problem in China and to provide a review of the research activities and recent results published in Chinese journals. The review covers four different research areas. including wind erosion climate, monitoring, ll)echanism and modeling.
