Galls and Gall-makers in Khejri (Prosopis cineraria Linn. Druce) of Arid Zone of India

Abstract

In Prosnpis cineraria trees, four Qpes of galls, showing variability in structure, size and weight, were identified. 25 to 45.4% galls showed the presence of gall makes (insects/mites). Population at these gall makers increased with vegetative growth of trees. Infested galls were maintained in laboratory/ rages and !he emerged adults were identified as a mite, k.Eriophes Prosopisdis) and four insects. Contarinia,prosopidis (Diptera). Pediobopsis sp. (Hymenoptera) and four Lepidopterans. Assura albicostalis, Anonio mdorom Eucosna liplintha and Ascalenia sp.
