The experiment was conducted at three locations, Dharanwas, district Bhiwani, Rankhanda, district Jhajjar and Bobua, district Hisar, Haryana, India with an initial root-knot nematode population of 279-292, 292-324 and 177-185 J2/200 cc soil, respectively. Plots/ beds of 5x5 m2were prepared by using standard agronomic practices. The plots were fumigated with formalin @ 250ml/m2 and covered with transparent polythene with 25 μm thickness. Polythene mulching of plots was also done for 30days to rule out the effect of polythene mulching alone. The results were compared with untreated check. The plots were transplanted with tomato at village Rankhanda, capsicum at Dharanwas and cucumber at Bobua. At all the locations, no root-knot nematode (RKN) population was recorded in the plots fumigated with formalin; however, the RKN population reduced by 85.7% to 94.7%. in
the plots mulched with polythene alone for 30 days.
