Abstract

Matrix is the versatile method used in P R A for learning from people about their preferences, choices and priorities of different items (or a c lass of objects) and more importantly  the criteria around which the above decisions are made. This method is also applied in understanding their problem priorities and selecting the solutions / options and helps in understanding people’s perception about their items or a class of objects of their use like trees, soils, fertilizers, varieties, animal breeds, fishes, food vegetables, weeds, diseases, schools, services, fanning systems, etc. Correctly done, with direct peoples participation the rationale / logic of the peoples which is based on their rich intimate experience / knowledge of the total environment/ situation they live in unfolds the intricacies and value of their decision making processes (about preferences, choices, problems, solutions, etc.) for outsiders (Government, Voluntary sectors, Researchers) to analyse and act
