Abstract
The plugs made of non-absorbing cotton are mainly used for spawn production in India. The high quality non-absorbent cotton is not easily available and is costly. The growers face problems of contamination due to infections passing through the plugs, especially after wetting of the plugs. We here report use of polyfill plugs in lieu of cotton plugs which are more safe and less costly as compared to the traditionally used cotton plugs.
