Abstract
Zooplankton composition and abundance was studied during 1994 inThengapattanam estuary, a bar-built system in the southwest coast of India.Fifty four representatives of zooplankton were recorded in the estuary of whichcopepods constituted 38 %. A clear pattern of species succession was generallyabsent. The cyclopoid Mesocyclops leuckartii and the rotifers Brachionusplicatilis, Brachionus sp. and Keratella sp. occurred perennially. Salinityappeared to influence the occurrence of plankton fauna in the estuaryDownloads
