Journal Archiving Policy
To ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of its scholarly content, Indian Journal of Fisheries has established a robust archiving policy. This policy guarantees that all published articles are securely stored and accessible to readers, even in the event of technical or operational disruptions.
Purpose
The archiving policy aims to:
- Preserve the scholarly content of the journal for future generations.
- Ensure continued access in case of unforeseen circumstances, such as data loss, website downtime, or organizational closure.
Archiving Methods

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN):
The journal employs the PKP Preservation Network, which uses the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system to create distributed copies of the journal’s content across a network of preservation nodes. -
Institutional Repositories:
The journal content is archived in trusted institutional repositories, ensuring compliance with institutional and library standards for long-term preservation. -
National and International Archives:
The journal collaborates with recognized archives and indexing services to ensure comprehensive preservation. -
Self-Archiving:
Authors are encouraged to archive the published version of their articles in institutional or subject-specific repositories, adhering to the journal’s copyright and open-access policies.
Content Coverage
The archive includes:
- All published articles (past and present).
- Editorials, reviews, and supplementary materials.
- Metadata and associated content such as DOI assignments.
Access to Archived Content
- Archived content will remain freely accessible through the journal's website.
- In case the journal website becomes unavailable, content can be accessed through the PKP PN or other associated repositories.
Monitoring and Updates
The journal periodically reviews and updates its archiving systems to ensure alignment with evolving technological and preservation standards.
