Abstract

Effect of green manure amendment on the viability of two soil-borne plant pathogens viz. Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani, colony interaction, effect of cultural filtrates and volatile metabolites of dominant fungi in green manure on the mean radial growth of the test pathogens were evaluated. Green manuring resulted in the reduction of sclerotia of S. rolfsii and R. solani by 27.5% and 26%, respectively. Maximum growth inhibition of Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani, observed in dual culture with Trichoderma harzianum after 96 hours were 97.23% and 98.33%, respectively. The mean colonial diameter of S. rolfsii and R. solani was found minimum by the effect of cultural filtrates and volatile metabolites of Trichoderma harzianum among all the dominant fungi.
