Abstract

Betelvine leaves showed yellow spots which, at acute stages, became completely yellow. The virus was graft transmissible but not by mechanical means. Purified virus showed flexuous rods of 730 x 12 nrn which had a buoyant density of 1.27 glcm3 in cesium sulphate. Molecular weight of the protein subunits was determined as 32 KD. Crystalline cytoplasmic inclusion bodies were observed in infected cells.
