Abstract

and D 40 were better with respect to germination. The dry matter accumulation was more in the T.A.D., D 38 D 39, Ganga-2 and Mich 166 x Etoblanco. Root/shoot ratio was wide in the case of GaDga-2, Ganga-5, Mich 166 x EtoblaDco, Vikram and Vijay, indicating better salt tolerance. Son a and Ganga-2 were better in the length of radic e and plumule. The concentration of sodium, potassium and calcium in shoots was non-significant. However, no relationship between cation concentration and salinity tolerance seems to exist in the germplasms tested.
