Inheritance of Plant Height Under Cut and Normal Crop Conditions In Barley (Hordeum Vulgare L.)
81 / 9
Abstract
Genetic architecture of plant height of barley was investigated by diallel analysis in eight contrasting environments. Both additive and non-additive gene effects were involved in the inheritance of plant height but the latter played a greater role. Degree of dominance indicated over-dominance and preponderance of unfixable component of genetic variation. Dominant genes were in excess of recessives and tallness was dominant over dwarfness. Two to three genes appeared to determine this trait. The character was found to be highly heritable. The cut and normal crop conditions gave almost similar results. The need for conducting such studies in a range of environments has been emphasized.Downloads
