Abstract

The daily rainfall data collected at Bijapur for all the years from 1921 to 1970 was analysed to study the distribution of rainy days and wet spells during the months April to December. The frequencies of wet spells of different lengths were estimated monthwise using logarithmic series and the results were discussed. It is found that the southwest monsoon rains persist more in the month of September. Though the probability of occurrence of a rainy day is less during the month of November than in the months of April and May, the persistency is more in the month of November than in the months of April and May.
