Abstract

A field experiment was conducted on a sandy soil for 2 years to study the Effect of the' quality of Irrigation water on the yield of 4 varieties of wheat. Grain yield was more affected by water quality than straw yield. With increase of salinity, the maximum reduction was of the order of 25 to 40 per cent and the variation showed vide variation, in their salt tolerance behaviour. The relative yield potential of the variable was K 68> Kbarchia> Sonalika> RS 31-1 > Kalyan sona. Wheat could be grown successfully upto a salinity level of 80 meq/l in the irrigation water.
