Abstract

Based on the aridity index values. zones of different moisture stress in Karnataka. South India, were delineated for the four months of rabi season viz.• October, November. December and January. In October, the entire state was under little or no and moderate stress, whereas 29 percent of the area was under high stress viz., large, severe and disastrous, in November. High stress was observed ill 82 per cent of Karnataka in December and the entire state in January.
