Abstract

Soil sruvey of Jui canal command area covering an area of 82,000 acres of Bhiwani District (Haryana) was carried out to know their problems from the soil characteristics. In accordance with these. suitable management practices and cropping pattern have been suggested. Four different roil units have been identified in the area having different problems. Sand dunes stabilised and unstabilised. the soils of which area Typic Torripsamments, have the main problems of wind erosion and excessive drainage which can be checked by plantation of grasses and wind breaks. Plain with aeolian c{)ver and depressions having roils of Arcnic Camborthids and Typic Paleorthids respectively. have the problems of available moisture capacity and fertility status which can be improved by addition of organic manures, by fertilizers, adopting suitable roil and moisture conservation practices and following cropping pattern having proper proportion of legume and non legume crops.
