Abstract

In a field study seeds of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea, cv. Gujarat -2) were grown after inoculation with Azotobacter and phosphorus solubilizing bacteria alone or simultaneously and with four levels of nitrogen (0, 30, 60 and 90 kg ha-1 ). Observations on various performance parameters and seed, dry matter yield revealed that bio-fertilizer and increasing levels of N improved growth and yield. The interaction between the two was synergistic. Thus, it is inferred that simultaneous application of chemical nitrogen and bio-fertilizer reduces the N - demand for sustaining yield levels.
