Abstract

Phosphorus fractionation of some soil orders of, Rajasthan revealed that as weathering stages progress from unweathered to slightly weathered, the soil moves in classification system from Entisols, Inceptisols, Aridisols through Alfisols to Mollisols. Vertisols do not fit in the sequence due to fine texture a:nd poor drainage. As weathering sequence progresses there is decline in total and organic phosphorus. A shift in inorganic phosphorus from calcium bound to reductant phosphorus is observed with profile maturity.
