Abstract

Analysis of sediment deposits ranging in thickness from 20 cm to more than 100 cm due to July 1979 floods on irrigated and intensively managed agricultural lands along the Luni river and its tributaries revealed that the available micronutrients, viz., Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn are half to the third of the composition of the original soil showing thereby a considerable depletion. The sediments are sandy in nature. Finer the sand, higher the available micr 0- nutrients. A number of samples indicated values even below critical levels for certain micronutrients in different sectors.
