Abstract

Isolation and characterization of the rhizobial strains from the tree legumes Acacia senegal Willd.. A. tortiles Hyme. Albizzia lebbek Benth., Prosopis cineraria Linn. and P. juliflora (SW) DC.. arc reported together with the nodulation pattern of the host plants. The rhizobia from these Iegumes were akin to those of cowpea group in their properties. Rhizobial strain of cowpea group could nodulate Acacia senegal and Prosopis cineraria. While rhizobial strains from Acacia senegal and Prosopis cineraria could cross nodulate. that ofAcacia tortilis was more specific.
