Abstract

Intercropping of four grain/forage legumes viz. arhar (Cajanus cajan (L.) Mill sp.). guar (Cyamopsis tatrogonoloba (L.) Taub), moong (Vigns radiata (Linn.) Wilezek) and urd (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) had bcneficial effect on forage yield of Buffcl grass (Cenchrus ciliaris Linn.). However, intercropping with arhar lead to higher grass forage and legume grain yield as compared to other intercrops. The total forage (grass+legume) yield obtained from intercropping with arhar was equivalent to the application of 60 kg N/ha.
