Abstract

Neem is one of the important multipurpose tree species and in Thailand, two varieties of Azadirachta indica i.e. A. indica var., indica called Sadao India and A. indica var. siamensis Valenton called Sadao Thai has been reported. Vegetative propagation is one of the important means of producing a number of genetically identical individuals. In the present set of experiment different concentrations of IBA i.e. 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 and 1200 ppm along with distilled water (control) were tried for air layering in Thai neem in the month of July. Experimental findings revealed that IBA 800 ppm is very much suited for air layering in Thai neem and with this concentration of IBA, high rooting combined with high survival percentage was obtained. This finding may have great impact in Thai neem improvement program in days to come.
