Abstract

Biochemical and enzymatic composition in healthy and wilt affected Dalbergia sissoo trees having different girth regime were investigated. The amount of chlorophyll, protein: carotenoids, starch, total sugars and total phenol was decreased while amino acid and protease increased in diseased plant leaves as compared to healthy. The decrease was higher in plants having girth 51- 100 cm. The activity of polyphenol oxidase and amylase were increased while catalase activity decreased in diseased plant leaves rather than healthy. The biochemical level in healthy trees was in decreasing order in relation to age of plant suggested the susceptibility against wilt pathogen.
