The study explores the socio-economic profile of the ginger growers, their adoption behaviour and the factors that influence with the adoption of scientific cultivation of ginger in Anjaw district. Study result revealed that cultivation of ginger is mainly done by middle-age group particularly by women SHG members. Despite of an average landholding size of 3.51 hectares steep and difficult rocky terrains limits the cultivable land contributing low productivity and income with almost 50 percent of respondents earning an income of less than Rs. 1 lakh annually. The study also revealed that age, education and farming experience significantly influence the adoption of technology yet literacy remains low due to lack of infrastructure and natural calamities. Results of Welch’s ANOVA indicated that there is significant differences in the adoption score across five dimensions. The dimension ‘Scientific Cultivation Practices’ were widely adopted with higher density at higher scores. ‘Manure and Biofertilizer Application’ and ‘Plant Protection Measure’ have lower adoption scores with less variation and the dimensions ‘Post-Harvest Management’ and Risk Management Related to Planting Materials’ show moderate adoption with some variation. The Games-Howell test confirms that these differences are statistically significant.
