Focus and Scope
The Indian Journal of Plant Genetic Resources (IJPGR) is a highly focused journal devoted to research papers and review articles on all aspects of plant genetic resources (PGR). This includes plant exploration and germplasm collection, germplasm characterization and evaluation, genetic diversity studies, germplasm exchange and quarantine, germplasm conservation, policy and IPR issues related to genetic resources. It publishes full-length papers or short communications of original scientific research in the field of PGR. Review articles (with prior consent or invitation only) summarizing the existing state of knowledge in topics related to PGR are also be published. For publishing in the journal, at least one of the authors must be a member of the society. The maximum length of the review article, full-length papers and short communications is usually restricted to a maximum of 12, 6, 3 printed pages, respectively including illustrations and tables.
Peer Review Process
All articles are peer-reviewed, by at least two reviewers. The peers on the Editorial Board constitute eminent scientists in the field specialized in different aspects of PGR. Panel of referees also include eminent scientists across the country and also from abroad. Reviewing criteria include originality of work, its suitability to the journal, presentation quality, quantity and data analysis.
Publication Frequency
Journal is published in form of 3 numbers (issues) per year (one issue in every 4 months).

Journal History
The Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources (ISPGR) was established in the year 1987 to serve and promote the scientific cause and to advance academic interest in the field of Plant Genetic Resources (PGR). The ISPGR has membership of nearly 580 scientists from within and outside the country, besides 15 institutional members. Indian Journal of Plant Genetic Resources (IJPGR) is the official publication of the ISPGR, which is the only Indian journal on PGR – the backbone of any crop improvement programme, and is amongst one of the three journals published on PGR from all over the world. Indian subcontinent is immensely rich in agro-biodiversity and genetic resources of both crop species and their wild relatives. IJPGR has standing of about 24 years, being published in form of 3 numbers (issues) per year (one issue in every 4 months). Currently the second issue of 2011 [Vol 24(2)] has been published.
