Abstract

Studies conducted at Vegetable Research Station, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad from 2009 to 2014 revealed that chilli buds are being damaged by a complex of insect species belonging to two different orders viz., Diptera and Hymenoptera, which were involved in gall formation. The identifi cation of these insects was carried out through Network project on insect biosystematics at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. This is the first report on gall formers in chilli from Telangana. Management studies revealed that none of the tested chemicals is effective in controlling these gall forming insects. Pooled data of 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 revealed that the lowest per cent fl ower and fruit damage was recorded in the treatment with azadirachtin 10,000 ppm (35.19% and 35.09%, respectively)
