Abstract

The present study compared the efficacy of ready to use formulation and already recommended cereal based formulation of bromadiolone for the management of rodents in summer moong crop. The experiment was conducted in 3.6 ha area of summer moong (SML 668) crop at village Dharmkot, district Moga, Punjab. The area was divided into three blocks I, II and III with each block consisting of three replicated fields of 0.4 ha area. Block I was treated with ready to use flour based formulation of bromadiolone and block II was treated with 0.005% bromadiolone cereal grain based formulation @ 400g/0.4 ha in May, 2016 at pod maturation stage using grid method. Block III was kept as untreated control. Though the acceptance of ready to use formulation of bromadiolone was significantly (p < 0.05) more as compared to bromadiolone cereal based formulation, however, maximum percent control success with respect to same field and control field on basis of bait census and live burrow census and minimum percent damage to pods and yield loss were recorded in block II treated with 0.005% bromodiolone cereal based bait. Results thus suggest the use of 0.005% bromadiolone cereal bait at pod maturation stage was effective to manage the rodent damage in summer moong crop.
