Identification of endophytic Pseudomonas fluorecens by fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) analysis

Abstract

Among the sixty two isolates of Pseudomonas fluorescens tested for their antagonistic activity against Fusarium oxysporum f sp vasinfecum by dual culture technique, lowest of mycelial growth (2.56 cm) was observed in ERCPf 13 compared in control (8.98cm), the isolate exerted significant reduction (70.09%) in vitro. Application of endophytic Pseudomonas fluorescens @15 g/kg as seed treatment reduced the incidence of wilt disease by 61.95%. with the population 15.36 x 10-3 under field conditions as against the control with the population 10.32x 10-3. In our study, the MIDI Sherlock System identified the bacterial antagonist as Pseudomonas fluorescens by fatty profiles, which had the similarity index (SI) of 0.536 with 0.1 separation of antibiotics between the first and second choice.
