Bacterial leaf blight disease of rice is a growing and challenging concern. Since bacterial pathogen (Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae) is difficult to manage by other means effectively, development of host plant resistance is the most effective mean to control this disease. Morphological and molecular screening are widely used approach in the recent scenario for identifying bacterial leaf blight resistant cultivar. This study was carried out to evaluate rice genotypes against bacterial leaf blight under field conditions. Out of 176 genotypes, 25 genotypes were found highly resistant against bacterial leaf blight of rice. These 25 genotypes were further genotyped for bacterial leaf blight resistance for two bacterial leaf blight resistant genes i.e., Xa21 and xa13. Out of 25 genotypes, 9 genotypes were observed to be double positive for both Xa21 & xa13 genes while 2 entries viz., WGL1150 and WGL-1131 were observed to be positive for xa13 geneDownloads
