Keywords:
Ehrlichiacanis, epistaxis, monocyteAbstract
A two year old Dobermann male was presented with a history of bilateral epistaxis for past 6 months, rectal temperature of 102.9, open mouth breathing, ocular discharge, weakness, emaciation. The animal was treated by local field veterinarian with Doxycycline, Amoxycillin, Clindamycin simultaneously. But no improvement of clinical manifestations was observed even after treatment with forone month. Animal was grossly examined for the presence of Ixodid ticks, if any. Upon examination of Romanowsky stained blood smear, the monocyte revealed presence of morula stage of Ehrlichiacanis as per standard taxonomical keys (Soulsby, 1982).
