Abstract

A study was carried out on three tractors of same make and model to know the realistic information on repair and maintenance cost which is directly dependent on the tractor utilization in various operations and handling by the operators for a period of eleven years, i.e., August, 1988 to July, 1999. All the studied tractors were purchased on same date. The tractors T1 , T2 & T3 were operated for 5976 hours, 8168 hours and 9670 hours, respectively. These tractors were mainly engaged for seed bed preparation, land development, threshing,/shelling and transportation purposes. The study suggests that an experienced and sincere driver can save the repair-maintenance cost and will also add in enhancing the life of tractor.
