Abstract

Dry matter loss of pigeonpea grain. stored under ambient conditions. was determined in relation to three packaging materials and two initial moisture contents i.e, 9% and 12%, Effect of ethylene-di-bromide(EDB) treatment vis-a-vis control was also investigated. During the six months storage period, the dry matter loss in pigeonpea grains ranged from 3.07% to 23.57%. The minimum dry matter loss in grain was observed at 9% initial moisture content for EDB treated samples stored in jute bags. The pattern of dry matter loss for grain was linear with the period of storage.
