Abstract

For timely crop establishment, the tedious and labour intensive seedling transplanting technology needs to be replaced by other methods to tackle the problem of labour scarcity and to reduce the cultivation cost. The wet anaerobic seeding of rice in fields is the technique which can belp the farmers greatly in establishment of crop especially as herbicides are available to control the weeds. Under irrigated rice and favourable rainfed low lands the farmers should understand the methods and techniques of pre-germinated paddy seeding suitable for their areas before adopting the seeders. The adoption of new technology would help in reducing the labour requirement and the cost of cultivation of rice crop.
