Abstract

Physico-engineering properties of dry, soaked and sprouted rice seed at 1.03, 3.48, 4.64 and 9.47 mm sprout length with 24, 36, 44 and 52 h of incubation period were determined. The average length, width and thickness were 9.2, 3.05 and 2.0 mm for dry, 9.1, 3.03 and 1.98 mm for soaked paddy. The kernel dimensions for each sprout length were 1.03 (9.36, 2.77 and 2.49 mm), 3.48 (9.28, 2.86 and 2.01 mm), 4.64 (9.67, 2.94 and 2.04 mm) and 9.47 mm (9.88, 2.97 and 2.03 mm). The average bulk densities and angle of repose of seed were determined.
