Induced Breeding of Trichogaster Sota with Ovaprim Injection

Abstract
The present experiment was carried out at two floodplain wetlands of upper Assam during 2011 to 2013. The size of mature Trichogaster sota ranged from 4.5 to 5.3 cm with a mean length of 4.9 cm, while its body weight varied from 1. 90 to 3.12 gm. Later, three sets (2 males and 1 female] were injected with different doses of ovaprim hormone which ranged from 0.3-1.0 ml kg and were released in three breeding aquariums and one aquarium was kept as control. The latency period was recorded from 9 to 15 hrs, the number of eggs varied from 111 to 217, percentage of fertilization was found to be between 46.85 56.40, and percentage of hatching got varied from 24.87 to 32.26. The breeding trials showed that 1" trial was most effective (0.3 to 0.5 ml kg). The 2nd trial (0.5 to 0.7 ml kg) was slightly more effective than the 3rd breeding trial (0.8 to 1.0 ml kg'). It reveals that the lower dose of ovaprim was more effective than the higher for induced breeding of Trichogarliu sota.
