Abstract

Piscicidal plants and their mode of application by tribes of Vikramgad Taluka of Palghar District of Maharashtra state have been documented. The observed active ingredients, viz., flavonoids, tannins, saponins, amines and alkaloids were present in Assamee khair (fruit), Gala (fruit), Pev (rhizome) and Buranda (leaf) which might be acting individually or synergistically as poison. This study will be helpful for documentation and compilation of indigenous technical knowledge (ITK).
