Selected aspects of biological parameters like length-weight relationship, condition factor, gonadosomatic index were examined in Trichogaster fasciata (Bolch & Schneider, 1801) from a lentic water body Shanti Jheel in Nadia district of West Bengal. A total 462 specimens with size ranging from 27 to 89 mm were collected for a period of one year (April 2003 to March 2004)
The size at first maturity was recorded as 60 mm and the fishes were categorized into two groups such as size group-l (<60 mm) and size group-Il (260 mm) for easy interpretation. The fish exhibited allometric growth with b' value 2.783 and 2.763 for corresponding groups. The mean relative condition factor (Kn) ranged from 0.930 to 1.161 for male and 0,914 to 1.409 for female. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) of male was found minimum of 0.402 during the month of December and maximum of 1.404 in July, and in female the minimum value of 0.426 was found in January and maximum of 4.018 in June.
