Abstract

Bacteria are primordial microorganisms that need survival within harsh and limiting environments for continued success. Without the adaptation strategies, the kind of such organisms must face extinction. Though the environmental extremophiles have adapted various physiological and structural modifications, the other pathogenic microorganisms must possess different capabilities to cause successful infection in their host range. These capabilities that counteract the host's immune system are termed 'evasion' or 'anti-immune strategies' and include various modes, structures, and components. In-depth knowledge is required to understand the infection mechanisms to develop therapeutics or vaccines.
