Abstract

Length–weight relationship (LWR) was estimated for three freshwater fish species: Laubuka dadiburjori Menon, 1952, Horadandia brittani Rema Devi & Menon, 1992 and Oryzias dancena (Hamilton, 1822) from Kanyakumari District, Southern Western Ghats, Tamil Nadu, India. The LWR of these three freshwater fish species was estimated for the first time as there are no previous reports available in FishBase. The fish specimens were collected weekly from Parakkai Lake, Kanyakumari (drainage of Pechiparai reservoir)using hand net of 0.02 cm mess size between December, 2019 to December, 2020. The estimated ‘b’ values ranged from 2.51 to 3.42, despite the values were quite high in L. dadiburjori than other two species; and ‘a’ values ranged from 0.009 to 0.020. New maximum total length (TL) has been recorded for all the three species.
