Abstract

A total of 120 Lamellidens marginalis specimens from three different waterbodies (40 each) of India were studied for allozyme variations. The 17 enzyme systems screened, provided twelve scorable loci in which seven loci were polymorphic. The significant genotype heterogeneity was observed between the sample sets. The identified loci exhibited significant potential to determine population structure of L. marginalis, across its natural range of distribution.
