Abstract

Mushroom spawn contaminating bacterium was isolated from the infected spawn sample on nutrient agar medium.  Classical identification characters (morphological and biochemical characters) of the organism revealed that the organism belong to Bacillus species (pumillus). Further characterization of the organism using 16S rRNA gene sequencing clearly confirmed that the organism under study was Bacillus pumillus.
